  1. Region 1-5A in Texas was indeed strong this year! Lot's of good teams didn't make it out.

  2. The Woodlands#1 runner, Madi McLellan was there but collapsed with 20 meters to go,tried crawling to the finish and never made it. After 3 minutes of what was brutal to watch, they finally came on the course and took her away in an ambulance. I understand she is ok, it was hot and very windy and she had three hard weeks of racing in a row

  3. Does anybody know what happened with Strake Jesuit's top guy, Frank Lara? Region 3 champ, didn't seem to be on the finisher's list at State. That could have bumped SJ up a couple notches.

    1. I didn't see it, but heard that he got wiped out in the first turn and went down and couldn't finish the race. I am not sure if he is ok to run this week. As a team they did not have a good day even with him and a top ten finish for him, I think they might have gotten 7th as a team at best.

    2. He was trampled at the start and 3 other Strake guys went down as well.

    3. Don't they call the runners back if that happens at the start?

    4. It wasnt in the first 100 meters, so no, they don't call it back. It was at the end of the straight away where the course funnels down and turns left. Lots of wipe outs there every year, unfortunately.

  4. The Woodlands also had a couple of their scorers go down in the pile up but they were able to finish, just not as far up as they normally would.

  5. In the girls 5A race, the first mile went out very fast right at 5 minute pace which is why several of the front runners did not finish well. It wasn't that hot, just windy as usual. It was significantly hotter later in the day when the 4A teams were racing.

  6. The 5A girls race went out at 5:15. I know because I was standing right there. Still fast though.

  7. I talked to five other people who all had them anywhere from just under 5 to 5:08 at the front of the pack.
