Note: A reminder, this is based on returning runners, taking a look at combined scores from a hypothetical merge of all the best teams in the state (top 29 in this case) and also considering how good the program has been over the last nine years. Because of this process, the teams don’t always stay in the same order as they did in their respective classifications (this is a smaller, more elite field of teams than is looked at for the classification rankings). To me it looks like the top three teams are all close together with St. Mary’s a strong #4 while South Eugene and Mountain View should also be quality teams on the regional level. Grant and Aloha aren’t far behind either and could end up as notable teams within the Northwest with a strong summer or some incoming talent. Individually, Ella Donaghu finished tenth at NXN last year and is the #7 returner, while Olivia Brooks could challenge for a spot to nationals this year as well.
