Washington XC Program Rankings

Sorry about the break, but I’m back for more!

Here’s a look at the boys XC programs in Washington. I did this a bit differently than the last few years, in that I limited the max score to 330 for any team (whether they made the top 22 or not). Otherwise, same process as before:

As a reminder, here is the method I use:

1.       Merge ALL results from the state meet (all classes)

2.       Remove all individual athletes

3.       Order athletes by time, breaking ties by place and (if necessary) classification (as in general, smaller classes have less competition which usually leads to slower times). Ties haven’t happened all that often the last couple of years due to the WIAA using chip timing and breaking time down to tenths if not hundredths of seconds (thank you, WIAA! A change I can applaud!)

4.       Score the massive merge

5.       Re-score using only the top 30 teams (from the mass merge)

6.       Re-score using only the top 22 teams (from the 30-team merge)

7.       Sum points for all years (2006-2014), plus add 330 for each time a school didn’t finish in the top 22, then divide by 9 (the # of years included in the review, which I started at the first season of the current classification structure)

Without further ado, onto the lists!
