Chanse Gilbert did not run track last spring. Do you know why?
ReplyDeleteI am surprised to see Issaquah at #2. They seem thin, seems like Bellarmine Prep might be a little deeper. Most of the top teams seem thin though.
Don't know why. He missed the first half of XC last year as well.
ReplyDeleteIssaquah: while not outstanding, they don't have that poor of depth. Schrag ran 9:17, George and Brueckman both ran 16:33 at the NW 4A XC Regional, McConnell ran a 4:23. So that's a pretty solid quartet. Bit of a drop off to #5 (Duff @ 17:32 at Regionals), though.
BP is very similar through three (Yearian the only real advantage, and that's not many points at state). Issaquah has a little bit of an edge at #4/5 though, or at least it seems that way to me: Ostrander @ 16:37 at American Lake last fall and Fischer at 4:38 isnt that strong of a #5.
Both teams will need to improve at #5 if they want to stay as highly ranked as they are going into the season. However, that is a problem that ALL of the teams, outside of Tahoma and a pair of 3A schools, have this year - as you allude to.
Yes. Except for Tahoma everyone seems thin. Tahoma #1, and then we will see. Very difficult to predict.
