Washington State HS Records - Distance

Getting into the Washington State HS Track & Field Records, let’s start off with what people reading this blog will care most about: the Distance records.

Two notes for future posts in this six-part series:

1.       I’ll include the Pole Vault list with the Hurdles to even things out (4 hurdle races vs. 6 jumps not including PV, so moving PV evens things out and it really should be in a category by itself).

2.       Lots of records this year, mostly bunched up into the same events. A total of 26 new State Meet Records, 3 new Overall State Records, plus 4 other Class Records.

Notes:

Alexa Efraimson ran a 9:00.16i for 3k at the UW Invitational (2/01/2014) and 4:07.05 for 1500m at the Adidas Grand Prix (6/14/2014), which are superior to the Junior and Overall records for Washington (converts to 9:40.0c and 4:25.3c) ... however, usually 1500m/3000m marks are not included in 3200m lists, as that's an extra 100m/200m the athlete didn't run and conversions aren't perfect. Those marks both stand as the second fastest in US HS history (behind Mary Cain's, both of which are within about 5 seconds).
