Boys NXN Results

Note that these ratings are more rough than usual… the conditions at Portland Meadows this year led to a wide variance in the data, which lessens the accuracy of the ratings (more than usual amounts of kids had more than usual “off” races). Note that I added scores for each runner (second column) and combined my files with the results so that grade levels are also included. Sorry for the poor formatting!

  1. Thanks Rob for all your hard work this season. Very exciting year and an unusual race. Extreme conditions can scramble predictions(except for FM girls).

  2. I've gotta stop making predictions. American Fork did get their podium finish, and SE boys did beat HL boys (in teams anyway). And Arcadia?! Wow, what a program. I'm gonna Milli Vanilli this one and blame it on the rain.

  3. Thanks for all the hard work. Need to switch the numbers in parentheses as it looks like you have the regions listed correctly but in parentheses accidentally switched the totals for Northwest and Southwest.

  4. AF and Davis sure represented Southwest well. Hopefully SW will get more credit in the future and get another At-Large Bid. I think they deserved it this year.

  5. Northerst is still king ... so all is still good in the world.

  6. Watchout, would love to see your pre-season 2013 Washington State and National rankings.

Great Job! Keep up the great work.

    1. As my official rankings include track as well as XC, it'll be a while before they can be posted. But I'm sure at some point this winter I'll post an XC-only outlook.

  7. Hey watchout, do you happen to know if there's a site that has the NXN results along with the runners' grade levels? I'm interested to see who's coming back. Some but not all of the regional results have grade levels listed, but I'm missing some (MW, SO). - statguy

    1. Meylan has grades listed on his NXN Projections page. Doesn't include every single athlete that ran NXN (there were several substitutions), but has the vast majority of them.

    2. Thanks. At first glance, it looks like the 1-2-3 teams (Arcadia, American Fork, and North Central) could be the same next year, depending on how NC fills out their roster. Interested to hear your thoughts on next season, watchout.

    3. I'm sure I'll have some preliminary look within a month or so, whenever I get around to it. And there are plenty of other potential goodies reviewing stuff. Just a matter of finding the time to sit down and put it all together... but not really too concerned about the team outlook before including track, because that's a big part of assessing the non-varsity (during the championship season) returners that teams will be relying on.
