Top Boys Teams/Individuals from NXR Meets

Here's a fun little look in case I don't get around to posting a proper NXN Projection this year. Every year, when looking through the regional races, I rate all of the races and throw them into a large field and parse it down until I get the top few teams so that I can gauge how well potential At-Large teams (and sometimes teams that might have finished fifth or sixth in a really strong region) might fare against the AQ teams already in the field. To that end, here is the scoring I had from NXR results ONLY for the 18 AQ teams + the top 7 non-AQ teams. Again, this does NOT represent who I think was necessarily the most deserving At-Large teams this year, but rather how everyone compared at the NXR meets specifically.

Included are the merged scores, the team time average from their meet, the associated ratings for that average time, the region they competed in and the place they got at the meet. Teams in bold are in the NXN field, teams underlined were eligible for At-Large consideration, and teams in italics were teams that were not eligible for At-Large consideration (were outside the top 4 at their regional meet).

(note: St. Charles East IL was invited as an At-Large team this year but didn't make the cut for the list above; I feel they were a good selection, not based on their NXR race, but on the body of their season. At NXR, their #1 was well off his usual, and while that alone wouldn't have put them clearly ahead of teams like Severna Park or El Paso Eastwood, they would have been in the same range as Franklin and Flower Mound, and with multiple wins over Wheaton-Warrenville South and York during the season that's good enough in my eyes)

Also, it should be noted that obviously if you take out the 4 teams that didn't make the field (and add in St. Charles East), the scores would change as would the order of teams, but in general the groupings would remain intact which is as accurate as you can realistically expect to be in any projection.

Additionally, here are the top individuals from the NXR races; individuals in bold qualified for nationals, individuals underlined and in italics did NOT qualify and did not receive At-Large invites (to my knowledge). Not as many of the top performers made it into the field compared to the girls with only 43 of the Top 50 advancing. Not making it were #22, #27, #29, #32, #44, #49 and #50.
