The entries are in, and it looks like the best turnout yet at NXR!

15 of the top 16 teams on the girls side are in the Championship field (missing only #13 Camas WA), with 4 more that were ranked or Honorable Mention as well as the Hawai'i State Runner-up squad (I didn't rate the Hawai'i state meet, so not sure how they stack up), and a pair of teams that were just off the bubble with the Washington 3A #5 team and Oregon 5A Runner-up squad. That's a tremendous field!

Same story on the boys side with the top 17 of the top 18 teams in the field (missing only #15 Olympia WA), with 3 more that were ranked or Honorable Mention as well as the Wyoming 4A State Champions and Runner-up squads. Again, a tremendous field! Unfortunately, it looks like the Rogers (Spokane) boys got placed in the Open division since they didn't make it to state... too bad, they are deserving of a spot in the championship field this year and it's not their fault the WIAA's state qualification system isn't particularly well balanced (Gonzaga Prep was also relegated to the Open race). Also, Star Valley WY boys are surprisingly in the Open division as well - that's understandable if you only look at the State Meet results where they weren't really pressed, but they showed they are a competitive team with their race here at Bob Firman (#12, just behind Hellgate MT and North Central WA and ahead of Tahoma WA, Lewis & Clark WA, and Sherwood OR). However, the Championship field has to be cut off at some point, and the teams that did make it in are also very deserving... but I believe teams can request to be moved into the championship field if they want, and Star Valley should definitely consider that as clearly a potential NW Top-10 team and maybe Rogers as well (though they are probably more like a #14-25 team in the region).
